Frequently Asked Questions
Why Signature Plating?
With more than two decades of tradition providing superior products and
outstanding customer service, Aircraft Belts, Inc. (ABI) developed
Signature Plating in 2002 as a result of a void in the aviation industry
for a plater dedicated to providing rapid turn time and superior
customer service. We are dedicated to a job done right — on time and on budget.
Can Signature Plating Disassemble / Reassemble our aircraft parts?
Absolutely. Due to Signature Plating’s affiliation with ABI, we are the only electroplater who legally within the guidelines of the FAA can disassemble your seat restraints. Furthermore, Signature Plating is the only electroplater who is certified to disassemble, inspect, test, plate and reassemble Wemac air and light units under the authority and right of B/E Aerospace. Any plater performing these functions and thereby not adhering to FAA guidelines puts you and your aircraft at risk for an “Unapproved Parts Violation.”
What is your turn around time?
Normal turn time for a “full interior” is 7-10 business days. However we are regularly asked to perform in shorter time periods and are successful in doing so. We are the only vendor authorized to disassemble and reassemble your safety restraints and wemac units. Our customer service specialists have extensive experience in planning, coordinating and keeping you informed of the project status.
What finishes do you offer?
We offer an unlimited number of finishes and have the ability to color match any finish you desire. The most common requested finishes are 24K gold, nickel, and chrome. Any finish can be completed with a polished, satin, antique or matte finish. Please click on our “finish list” to see your extensive options.
What is your warranty policy?
We provide a three year warranty against issues of craftsmanship. Normal wear and tear is excluded. Our commitment to you is we are proud of our work and will stand behind it to your satisfaction. We believe the trust developed in thorough communication and the understanding of your needs, coupled with honest answers in what we can and can’t do, greatly lessens the chance for issues to arise.
Can you plate larger parts?
Absolutely. Equipped with the largest plating tanks in the industry (over 10ft) size is rarely an issue. If your parts are too large for our existing tanks or odd shaped pieces, our specialists will quickly customize a process in order to see that your larger parts meet our strict quality assurance guidelines.
Do you plate non-aviation parts?
Absolutely. Whether you want to plate your yacht, firearms, or family heirlooms, we are a full service plater that goes to great ends to meet all the needs of our customers. Unlike most of our competitors who refuse non-aircraft work due to the issues of “contamination” and “the sensitivity of the plating bath”, we use a completely separate and segregated plating line for non-aviation parts.
